Thai Yoga Sports Therapy:
Massage on the Mat
Thai Yoga massage is known as "the lazy person's yoga" and is similar to Sports Massage in that it uses mobilization, compression, and stretching to improve flexibility and range of motion. Thai Yoga Sports Therapy is Zoe Zuniga's hybrid form of Thai Yoga Massage, combining traditional Thai Yoga Therapy with elements of Sports Massage.
Zoe's Thai Yoga Therapy includes stretching, energy work and range of motion. Thai Yoga Therapy is based on an ancient tradition of bodywork originally developed in India. Traditional Thai Yoga Therapy, known as "Nuad Bo Ran" is based on a Buddhist meditation practice and was developed by a healer known as "Father Doctor" or Siva Gakoarpahin in the time of Buddha, 2500 years ago. The practice migrated from India to Thailand and came to be known as Thai Massage by modern practitioners. Thai Yoga Massage is a widely practiced healing modality in Thailand, as it is made accessible to diverse populations.
Thai Yoga Massage is practiced on a floor mat. You, the client, are fully clothed in loose pajamas, workout clothes, or other comfortable attire. The massage is stretching and rejuvenating, as Thai Yoga Massage allows your therapist to use more leverage, control, and a greater variety of positions to meet your physical needs. Thai Yoga Massage also employs "sen lines," which are similar to meridian lines used in Shiatsu to relax and balance the nervous system. These benefits make Thai Yoga Massage superior to Sports Massage practiced on a table.

What to Expect:
Thai yoga therapy is done on a futon mat with the client placed in many different positions depending on the needs and fitness level of the client. One wears loose fitting pajamas or sweats. Unlike Swedish massage there is little use of lotion or oil.
With Table Massage you will be undressed to your comfort level for the use of oil or lotion and draped with a sheet and blanket.

Hot Stone Massage: Table massage
Hot Stone Massage: River stones are heated and placed on the body to warm the muscles for massage. The stones feel like liquid heat as the caress and sooth the muscles. The stones are also used to massage away tension. along with deep tissue massage as needed.
Zoe Zuniga began as a more traditional Swedish massage therapist but found that warming up the muscles with hot stones helped immensely in treating adhesions, injuries and scar tissue.
Deep Tissue Massage: Using cross fiber friction, elbow and forearm to ease pain and break up adhesions and scar tissue using oil or lotion, there is occasional soreness after this type of massage.
Sports Massage: Using compression strokes stretching and joint mobilization sports massage can be an invigorating warm up, pre event massage or restorative for post event, or preventative treatment to keep you from becoming injured from the over use and imbalance that comes with training for a particular sport.
